gregorygalloway:Mick Jagger and Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias were married on 12 May 1971 in Saint-Tropez, France, in what has been called the “the shabbiest free-for-all in the history of both rock and marriage and skin-crawlingly embarrassing for all the key participants.” Guests weren’t notified of the wedding until the day before, and Jagger flew 75 people, including Paul McCartney and his family, Ringo Starr (McCartney had sued the Beatles in Dec. 1970, and he and Ringo were not speaking to each other), Peter Frampton and Ronnie Wood, to Saint-Tropez, where the wedding almost didn’t happen. The morning of the scheduled ceremony, Jagger learned that according to French law, he had to declare “what property they held in common.” When the 4-month pregnant Bianca learned how little Jagger would declare, she almost walked out. They also learned that French law dictated that the couple take part in a public, civil ceremony at the town hall before the planned church wedding. Paparazzi and gawkers descended on the couple at the town hall and the Stones’ public-relations person, Les Perrin, had the priest lock the church doors to prevent the paparazzi and onlookers from crashing the wedding, which led to the unfortunate instance of Jagger having to pound on the door in full view of the photographers in order to get inside for his own wedding. At the church, Jagger’s parents learned that they would not be part of the ceremony, but that the head of the Stones’ record label, Ahmet Ertegun would be.The marriage lasted 7 years, with Bianca filing for divorce after learning about Jagger’s relationship with Jerry Hall. -- source link
