With the praise heaped upon a certain TV show, it’s a good time to acknowledge the man who defined the character and rewrote the rules of mainstream comic art while he was at it. In these covers from the first Moon Knight series (1980-84) we see a 22-year-old Bill Sienkiewicz becoming—or at least starting to become—the relentless innovator we know him as today. Even these early expressionistic touches made his art like nothing else on the spinner rack at the time. It’s hard to imagine a comics world without Bill Sienkiewicz and the many artists who learned from him. . Congrats to Moon Knight creator Doug Moench as well, he had a little something to do with defining the character. . And while we’re at it—happy early birthday @therealthatpolishguy @billsienkiewiczart (it’s Tuesday) . Anyone watching Moon Knight?
