Signs of SpringHaving spent most of my life in California, I’ve never really noticed the change of seasons before. California went from green to brown and back, but that was about it.Now that I’m in Oregon, with the long, grey, wet winter all around me, the first glimmers of spring light up my entire world. Over the last few weeks I’ve been delighted by the bits of color awakening all around. The first to wake up were the Witch hazels, with their sweetly astringent smell and weird flowers. The Daffodils and Crocuses woke up next, blooming in white and yellow. And now the Camelia bush’s flower buds, having swollen slowly all winter, have finally begun to burst open in explosions of pink.Spring is almost here. -- source link
