What Made Me Smile This Week:Sunday 5/19: New Belgium “Trippel” beer made me smile.Monday 5/20: Hannah and I had dinner with another interabled couple tonight. They’ve been married for 20+ years, and it was so cool to talk about all the similarities and differences of our experiences. Making new friends makes me smile.Tuesday 5/21: Mushroom barley soup made me smile tonight. It was a cold, wet day here in Minneapolis, which was extra annoying considering it’s almost June, but the soup was hot and the atmosphere inside Turtle Bread was cozy as always. I need warmth, but right now I’m smiling.Wednesday 5/22: Tonight, at the request of a young boy living with SMA, I had the honor of visiting a fully-accessible playground called Madison’s Place in Woodbury, Minnesota. Reed and I played together for over an hour, driving our chairs up and down the elaborate (ramp-filled) jungle gym, and I’m honestly not sure which of us had more fun—the 5-year-old or the 26-year-old. I even got to ride a swing! Finding places that truly understand and prioritize accessibility makes me smile.Thursday 5/23: I started a little birthday fundraiser (MY BIRTHDAY IS ON MAY 28th!!!!) to support Laughing At My Nightmare, to help us provide vital equipment to people living with muscular dystrophy, and hundreds of you beautiful people donated over $3,000 in the first 24 hours. Your generosity makes me smile.Friday 5/24: Cajun chicken pasta at 11pm. Trust me, I’ll regret this, but right now I’m smiling. Also, a new gene therapy for SMA was approved by the FDA today. That’s probably worth a bigger smile than this pasta but oh my god it’s so creamy.Saturday 5/25: Walking Bella in the early morning sunshine (ok it was 11:30am but it felt early) with Hannah made me smile. What made you smile this week? -- source link
