Yes, you should be angry. and do you know why it isn’t?because government interference!The process to brew a batch of human insulin is very easy. You simply grow a bunch of genetically modified bacteria in a big vat of juice, exactly like we do with the yeast that brews beer. The reason we’re not all doing that is because of something called “regulatory capture”, which is when a government agency stops being neutral and starts unfairly favoring specific companies. In this case, the FDA process for getting a new medicine approved for sale is long, slow, and expensive. Whenever somebody submits an application for cheap generic insulin, the FDA blocks them to protect a couple companies that currently make very big profits from insulin. Don’t call it a free market, because there’s nothing free about it. This is something I’m gonna post about in the future. Long term grid down survival and diabetes. In a free market insulin would cost maybe a dollar, because there would be a hundred different companies competing to convince you that they had the best deal on insulin.
