Watching his friends who was betrayed by Kreese in getting thrown out of the dojo and beaten up, watching Miguel, and especially his first, one and only friend, Demetri, who befriended him when no one else would, gets beaten up by the bullies makes him realize he’s been fighting the wrong people.
