I took a photo of this abandoned barn during a dreary spring day a few weeks ago, but had a hankering to find the place again to get some photos of the stars with it in the foreground. After about an hour and a half of driving west, my friend and I turned down the road which I believed the barn to be on. I slowly crept down the neglected concrete county road—my car’s headlights burning a hole through the dark—hoping not to drive by the old barn. After several false alarms, I was about to give up when my friend says, “Hey, is that it? Or are those just trees?” I stuck my head out of the window to find a massive blackness looming in the dark, just barely visible to my straining eyes. The place looked creepy as hell. I pulled into a gravel pit that once was a driveway, stopped, then hesitating to get out of the car, muttered something about how we’re about to die. My friend responded by reminding me that horror movies start in abandoned barns. We got out of the car and luckily faced no ax murderers, just the darkness. And got some amazing views of the stars in the process. – Photo by Mike Balonek@mikebalonekphotography -- source link
