they-hide-in-the-dark:Yamachichi -A monkey-like creature from Japanese folklore, Yamachichi are believed to come from bats. It is said that when a bat lives a very long life that it can transform into a Yamachichi. These creatures resemble monkeys but they have pointed mouths and lips constantly poised for sucking. They usually live deep in the mountains but they will come down at night to visit houses. Yamachichi live on human life force. They will sneak into a person’s house when they are sleeping and steal the breath from their bodies while they sleep by sucking it out of their mouths. After sucking away all of its victim’s breath, the Yamachichi will tap on its victim’s chest before fleeing. A human who has had their breath stolen by a Yamachichi in this way will die the next day. If a Yamachichi is caught in the act of breath stealing, either by the victim or by someone else, it will run away. This will actually greatly increase their victim’s lifespan instead if killing them. -- source link
