My kitten recently told me that her favorite thing about the hours we get to spend together is not cuddling in bed. It’s not watching movies or TV together. It’s not even the sex. It’s cooking together. Just the companionable silence between us while we happily work away at whatever tasks need to be done to get our meal ready. The playful banter as I peck at the ingredients, risking ruining my appetite. The light, subtle touches we give each other as we cross paths in the kitchen.
