kiki-shortsnout: ‘Nearly…done. I’ve…I just-’ His words became muffled and then dissipated into silence as fingertips covered his lips.‘It will wait. Come, I have no desire to be accused of not seeing to your needs,’ Loki urged. ‘Seriously, she’s like five foot nothing, Lokes, she can’t have scared you that much,’ Tony managed to mumble, hissing at the blood returning to his feet after sitting cross-legged in his chair for hours, needles of agony tearing his muscles. An arm wrapped over his waist and dark hair brushed across his cheek as Loki adjusted him, taking more of his weight.‘Clearly you have never been subjected to Pepper’s wrath,’ Loki corrected him, tactfully ignoring the easy jibe that Pepper was actually taller than Tony. ‘Anthony, this would be much easier if you allowed me to carry you.’‘Don’t wanna,’ Tony slurred together, trying to stand straighter, proving to Loki that he wasn’t tired, that he could keep on working. Normally, he loved Loki’s inhuman strength, his stamina, but there were times like this where it was an irritant, an unwelcome reminder of how mismatched they were, someone like Loki and someone like himLoki didn’t budge, treading the familiar steps down the corridor, the same path he always took when he came to find Tony late at night. The gloom and the silence pushed him closer to the precipice of sleep, exhaustion bleeding across his vision as his feet stumbled.‘Why do you tire yourself so?’ Loki whispered. ‘You’re you…’ Tony tried to explain, pushing his heavy tongue around in his mouth, the words clumping at the back of his throat as he tried to engage his brain. ‘And I’m…me.’ ‘That truly is a special skill of yours, Anthony,’ Loki told him, exasperation staining his words. Tony couldn’t feel the floor beneath his feet anymore, nuzzling close to the comforting weight beside his head, Loki’s leather-clad pectoral serving as an excellent pillow for his aching head.‘What?’ he asked the figment of his dream.‘Your self-deprivation. You think so little of yourself, believe yourself unworthy when you sacrificed everything to stand against the greatest threat in our known universe.’‘Lokes…’ Tony waved his hand in the air trying to pat his face before it fell into his lap. ‘Too many words, I don’t…’Was Loki cradling him?‘I would not waste my time on someone unworthy,’ Loki told him, ending the conversation.*** A little snippet of what I’m working on for @wspaceblog Marvel Trumps Hate win!
