Apple Adds Auto Home Media Syncing to iTunes (Update) Today Apple is announcing new iPods and tons of new features for iTunes 9. However, one that sticks out above the pack to me that could easily go unnoticed is automatic media syncing. What this will allow you to do is designate a computer that will look for newly added content (Music, Movies, Apps, etc.) on everyones machines and will add it to this library. Now you’ll be able to have a home base computer that will have a complete repository of the home’s music. Until this point there have been slim pickings on how to keep iTunes libraries properly aligned. The only disconcerting part is that the picture definitely references purchases. Hopefully this auto transfer feature doesn’t solely apply to iTunes purchased content. Worst case a smart playlist and a drag and click later you have an up to date list. Regardless, we’ll see in a little bit when Apple opens the download servers for iTunes 9. [Image from Engadget] **Update** According to Apple it will only automatically sync purchased content. However, you can still drag over the content that you either ripped or purchased digitally from other stores. Too bad, hopefully somebody can modify iTunes to remove that little road block. -- source link
