The Daimler range reflected that of Jaguar’s XJ, the XJ6 becoming the Sovereign with either 2.8 or 4.2 litre XK DOHC straight 6 engines, the XJ12 turning into the Double Six. At the top of the range the Double Six Vanden Plas used the XJ long wheelbase platform, 351 were made. The main exterior difference between the Jaguar and Daimler was the fluted grill and rear trunk trim of the later. The DS 420 Limousine was also powered by the 4.2 litre XK engine and used an extended Jaguar Mk X platform, it was built at the Vanden Plas works at Kingsbury.
