BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My DefenseStreaming on Crunchyroll.MC starts playing a new virtual reality MO, but she doesn’t want to get hurt. So she plays in the forest with a low level mob smashing into her character until she raises her defense stat insanely and the apple bunny dies from chip damage. Thus begins MC’s journey to make her character as defensive as possible and live out the amazing dream of having MMO monsters spam their attack animations on you endlessly while you laugh it off. Not your dream? What’s wrong with you?BOFURI is shockingly better than I expected. I went in with zero expectations and found it to be delightfully charming. It’s thankfully NOT an Isekai, not that that line really matters anymore with these types of shows. (I am just very biased) But this has a FATAL FLAW and that is that MC’s voice gets VERY IRRITATING VERY FAST. Most of this episode is her talking and I don’t know what it is, but the longer she talks, the more I want to press mute on her.But hey, good news, this show is getting a simul-dub. So perhaps I can watch the weirdly charming concept of a girl living her best MMO life without having to have my ears bleed. (Bad news, the promo art shows like 7 young female characters which is a sign I probably won’t like it in the long run but hey.)Was I mildly disturbed when she started to eat the dragon to fight it? Yes! Yes I was. But that’s a small price to pay. I think. Will I watch episode 2? When it’s dubbed. -- source link
