jowen-rph: ▇▇▇ Rapunzel, Rapunzel - Let Down Your Hair. »Rapunzel Re-write. »Cast: Erin Heatherton as Rapunzel, Sean O’Pry as Prince Christoph»Setting: Augsberg, Germany - Mid 1600’s»Playlist: Everything »Convinced that the child in her stomach was that of a demon, the young farmhand sold her child to the first traveler willing to buy. Unfortunately, the one who bought the baby was a cruel witch of a woman. The man she loved had recently died, and she’d never been able to conceive - seeing the young, blonde girl up for sale was something she couldn’t pass up.For a time they lived in harmony, the witches cold walls being broken down by the precious child - but one day things went terribly wrong. When young Rapunzel nearly drowned in the lake, the witch swooped her away from the world. Terrified that the young girl might die, run off, get kidnapped or wish to leave one day (like all the others had), the witch locked her away in a tower with only one way in and one way out - one which she had the key too. No one would ever take her princess from her. A greedy gesture indeed - forcing the young girl to live a life alone, cast away from the world. Her only friends the books on her shelves and the songbirds that would land on the stone lip of the window. When Rapunzel was but ten years old, the witch forgot to lock the door and the child wandered outside. When the witch returned to find the blonde girl with the curiously long hair sitting outside in the lush grass, picking flowers - she was sent into a fit of rage. Picking the child up by her golden tresses she drug her back upstairs, slamming the door shut and locking it up behind her. “You’ll never leave this place again! Do you understand me!” the cruel tone of her voice carried through the forest - as did the key she tossed out the window. “You wretched child!” the withes fear of being alone was a curse on the poor child. Finding a length of rope, the witch tied it securely before scaling down the side of the tower. “TOSS ME THE ROPE, GIRL.” the already lonely child was left completely by herself - her mother returning once a day for barely an hour to bring supplies and ensure her prisoner was eating. This went on for years - “Rapunzel, Rapunzel - let down your hair!” the witch called; eventually the childs curious hair had grown long and wild, strong and golden. Instead of rope, her thick mane was tied into a braid and tossed out the window - the girl having to choke back the pain of the form climbing her long tresses. But, when the witch found a new child - she started to visit Rapunzel less and less; bringing her supplies but once a week - on Mondays. “Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Let down your hair!” the prince heard - quirking a brow, wondering what someone was doing this deep out into the woods… “Strange.” he muttered, shaking his head and ignoring the sounds. But what he heard next he couldn’t ignore; the voice of an angel. “Yes Mother.” she called out in the softest tone he’d ever heard. Curiosity peaked and he couldn’t resist drawing nearer. Watching as the woman climbed the golden rope, the prince sat bewildered, wondering why the girl was up in a tower so high. So he sat, waiting patiently to see if the raven haired woman would leave. When she did - he rushed over, recalling the words she’d spoken. “Rapunzel Rapunzel, let down your hair!” he called - “Yes Mother.” the girl was quick to respond, knowing her mother hated to wait - but wondering why she returned so quickly. Upon entering the tower, and setting his gaze on the most beautiful creature he’d ever seen, the prince offered the young woman an escape from the life of imprisonment, he offered his riches, his love, his eternal loyalty. She politely declined and forced the man out - demanding that he never return, for her mother would be enraged. Every day after the prince would return - calling out to his princess; singing to her, bringing her treasures and treats, trying to earn the love of the fair maiden - while trying to hide from the cruel woman she called mother. Does Rapunzel fall in love with the prince? Does the mother discover their forbidden romance? Does the prince whisk the maiden off into the sunset? Well - the rest is up to you.
