You all know how much I love harpies, next to sphinxes they are my favorite mythical human-ish monstersThis year’s harpy is based on a more Russian folklore type harpy: the Alkonost. On the morning of the Apple Feast of the Saviour day the Alkonost flies to an orchard, where she rejoices and laughs. The Alkonost brushes the dew from her wings, giving healing powers to all fruits within the tree that she roostsThis harpy has a more humanoid anatomy compared to some past harpies, she feels more of a combo of a human and bird in posture.
