Some date the Sunni Jamah Bengali Mosque at the Sule Pagoda roundabout back to 1862. However, images from that time overlooking Fytche Square (today’s Maha Bandula Gardens) do not feature a mosque. It may by this time not have been more than a small wooden structure. If anyone knows when today’s more imposing mosque was built, we appreciate any input. -- source link
