Giant 7 Foot Tall Sculpture That Looks Like GrootArtist Garret Kane combines elements of nature with modern age technology in an effort to construct a 7-foot sculpture called Golemecha.Made from branches, roots, plastic, welded metal rods, wire mesh, plaster wrap, 3D printed parts, Golem is a character from the Judaic folklore, who is known to be a protector. And its counterpart in Japanese culture is Mech, the protector made from advanced robotics, as Kane explains on his website. And his this sculpture, just like its name, is an amalgamation of both these cultures, a piece created to fit the modern world where both nature and technology needs protection. His figurative sculpture, at first glance, seems to be composed of fractured elements, put together using bits and pieces of leaves, twigs and plastic parts. But if we take a look at it as a whole, we would notice the sheer strength of the posture of the male body; with its head held high and shoulders kept straight, its arms placed as if its ready to demolish anyone and anything that comes in the way, Golemecha does look like the part it was supposed to fulfill. Perhaps Kane intentionally leaves the fractured parts to evoke a false sense of vulnerability.See it yourself here to decipher the nuances of meanings the artist has embedded in his poetic sculpture.h/t: Colossal -- source link
