hauntedcosmospress: Robin Daehling First off, who are you as an artist and person? As an artist and a person I want to create comics and art that put a smile on peoples’ faces. If I can help someone’s heart and lift them up from a dark place, even for a little while, then I feel like I did a good job. What’s your story about and why did you want to tell it? “Dracus” is about a hiker driven by curiosity and a lust for adventure and a young dragon ordered to guard their home. I’m honestly a sucker for cute romance stories, and I wanted to make a comic that showed romantic growth with a fantasy twist, of course! What are some of your personal favorite water themed stories? (Did they have a hand in inspiring your own story?) “Pokemon Heroes” is the first that comes to mind when I hear “water story.” There are plenty of stories I love that aren’t strictly themed around water such as “When Marnie Was There,” and “Princess Mononoke.” I may not have been consciously thinking about them as I worked on “Dracus,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if they snuck some inspiration in my head as I worked on my comic. Looking at it now I’m almost certain they did. Lastly, what brought you to the Cosmos and what made you want to get involved with Strange Waters? Because I felt it. I felt the Cosmos. Hahah and that’s the honest truth! As soon as I saw the announcement I immediately started brainstorming! Water, fantasy, and queer love is a combination I can always live with. And having an entire zine filled with these kinds of stories is a dream. Interested in reading Robin’s comic? Support STRANGE WATERS on Kickstarter! -- source link
