Goddess of Spring & Queen of the Underworld. She is sympathetic and very much in tune with peoples’ feelings. The tale of this beautiful deity is well known– as she picked narcissus flowers, the earth tore open, and Hades brought her to the Underworld. Her distraught mother, Demeter (goddess of harvest), brings Autumn and Winter each year, as her daughter leaver her once more. She rejoices and brings Spring back after her daughter temporarily resurfaces. Persephone is known to be introverted; the “polar opposite” of Hera. She finds attraction in one’s nature, not appearance. How to honor Persephone: The best time to connect with this goddess is in May, and/or during Beltane. She offers aid in matters of the spirit, hope, depression, health issues, repressed anger, abuse/trauma, and death. She represents optimism & hope. She feels especially close with widows, the powerless, and anyone who has been mistreated or abused. She is not considered to be a sexual deity. Celebrate Spring to honor her. Offerings for Persephone: Fresh roses & spring flowers, black crystals. Collect river water, weave a wreath of spring flowers & leaves. Incenses: floral scents like hyacinth, narcissus, lily; or vanilla, and bergamot. [Source 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; image source] sea star witch -- source link
