janicelikesstuff: gahdamnpunk:WHAT THE ENTIRE FUCK Hey guys, maybe don’t cherry pick your information? If anyone went on the site and looked around, they would realize that, uh, this is a completely pure company looking to help the people they hirehere’s their mission statement:and some more info on the way this company functionshere’s some information about wages may I just point out: they do not work a full day (4-6 hours as compared to 8) and do not work overtime, and are given breaks. Wages are based off of living wages in the country (because this kind of thing changes) and the business model is constantly changing so that wages remain fairprices are also fair. That is not why I saved this image, though. they also want to eliminate waste, not only to maximize profit (which will go to the women who work to give them a good life) and to better the environment, which all companies could improve upon. Also, I’m just going to quote the bottom of this image, because I really want people to notice this:“We believe in transparency and sustainable change where each piece solves a problem rather than creating one. Thank you for being part of this change.“If you have any questions regarding our model, please contact us at - carcel@carcel.co”hi, yeah, they are completely transparent. they are willing to give you information to ensure these women are being treated well. Oh, and here’s a bit from a biography. Huh, isn’t it amazing that maybe the information given wasn’t meant to scandalize the reader into wondering “this girl may have made my sweater?” but rather into thinking “wow, I can’t believe this woman was forced into this. I hope she can get what she wants.”AKA garnering sympathy for these poor women who have had their agency removed. One more time with the mission statement. This company isn’t trying to scandalize you. It’s trying to do what it can. It sucks that news sources are treating it like a scandal, but that’s what clickbait is. tl;dr Carcel is a positive clothing company that gives women imprisoned for being impoverished and their families a fair chance while the woman is in prison and after they get out. if you would like to email them, please do so at carcel@carcel.co -- source link
