cosmicdeviant: ablessedblog:Eye of the beholder I fucking hate Picasso When I was studying art at University one of the artists my lecturer, who detested my guts as I “was the most frustrating and vindictive student he ever had” wanted me to use was Picasso, and I resolutely made it abundantly clear that I have no interest in cubism and I barely consider it art. Harsh, I know, but hey art is subjective so idcAnyway, he wanted me to do cubism. I did not want to do cubism. My interests and talents lie in art nouveau and basically anything that isn’t fucking cubismI told my lecturer and he basically said that either I do cubism or not fail my module, a module that I needed to pass my yearThe thing is, art nouveau has links to both art deco and cubism, and as such I reasoned that I could conceivably still produce my final piece in art nouveau style so long as I compared it to cubismAs it turns out, this is not what my lecturer wanted me to doSeething with the burning rage of a thousand stifled art students, I decided that I would make make them pay for forcing my hand20,000 words and three paintings later, I made my lecturer endure so much goddamn cubism that he ended up having to give me the top grade and ultimately went under review for coercing students’ final pieces Fuck you Chris and fuck your cubism -- source link
