App powered car? ♀️ I wish people remembered the age old wisdom that if something doesn’t absolutely require an Internet connection to function, it shouldn’t be connected to the internet - same goes for apps. WHY IS A CATFOOD DISPENSER CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET Sometimes I’m glad that I’m too poor for my “cool future stuff” monkey brain to be set loose to buy stupid shit like this. please please please do not buy into the Internet of Things. Digital displays for appliances are one thing, but you shouldn’t need the fucking internet to do your laundry or use the fridge. #there is a lot of positive stuff to be said about the internet of things etc #from an assistive device perspective #there’s a ton of things that can make houses just easier to live in #more accessible etc #but also i would literally rather starve than let amazon run my fridge #i am pro-internet of things/this kind of advancement #when the technology is in the hands of the people and not corporations #set up your house to run on something you control and that doesn’t necessarily need the internet! #local network your house! #be deeply suspicious of any app or company that will provide the app #because how much can you trust them when it goes wrong (via @robin-redbreast) -- source link
