biodiverseed: Malus domestica cv. ‘Skovfoged’This is a well-known Danish cultivar from the town of Lov, near Vordingborg, here on the island of Sjælland (Zealand). It is cultivated from a seedling that was found in a forest garden in 1830. By 1920, it was the 5th most popular apple tree to cultivate in Denmark. It is still popular in older Danish gardens, as it is reliably disease-free, and (almost too) productive. Though not cultivated in many other places in the world, it can occasionally be found in Swedish, Norwegian, and German gardens, as well as gardens of members of the Danish diaspora. Apple Height: 3-4 m; Spread: 3-4 m Green leaves White flowers with a pink blush, followed by large, sweet, red apples, with an outward ring of red flesh in the mealy white flesh of the fruit.
