ir-hakodesh: Collar for a Jewish woman’s wrapper, Calcutta, India, 1920sLavish collars were worn on festive occasions by women from India’s community of Baghdadi Jews. In the early 20th century, Baghdadi women adorned their long, loose dresses - known as “wrappers” - with large collars decorated with lace and metal-thread embroidery. Such collars are now very rare; this example had been kept in the family for generations. -- source link
