New Hubble images! To celebrate the Hubble Space Telescope’s 25th birthday, it has taken pictures of ‘old favourites’, using its upgraded camera to capture images in more detail than ever before. Pictured here is the sharpest image ever taken of the Andromeda Galaxy (NGC 224). Using this, astronomers will be able to study stars and gas clouds in the galaxy in even more detail, enabling us to learn more about the structure of the spiral galaxy. The HST has also taken an image of the ’Pillars of Creation’ Fun fact: Even in this small section of the galaxy, 100 million stars are visible!
