thenovl: status: currently reading That’s our status… well, pretty much year-round but ESPECIALLY during the winter! We like to keep it cozy with a hot cup of tea (or coffee!), a cardigan, and a ton of books. But the question is which books? To celebrate Night Flower, the gorgeous prequel e-novella to Court of Fives, we asked Kate Elliott and her editor, Deirdre Jones, to share what they’re currently reading. Take it away, ladies! Kate’s Picks: “In between reading a fascinating biography of 19th century scientist and naturalist Alexander von Humboldt (both for pleasure and for research), I am dipping into graphic novels: Faith Erin Hicks’ forthcoming The Nameless City (really great), and Tankadere: Daring Dames, volume iii of a small press comics anthology with a fantastic variety of stories about girls and women. I love the way indie comics have taken off in recent years both in print and especially webcomics. Finally, a book of poetry as a change of pace: Voyage of the Sable Venus by Robin Coste Lewis is a stunning re-imagining of history and art.” —Kate Elliott Deirdre’s Picks: “Can you tell I’m a fan of fantasy? In between working on series like Court of Fives and the Night Flower companion novella, I’m trying to keep up with other great books that have come out recently like Rae Carson’s Walk on Earth a Stranger (so. good.), Renée Ahdieh’s The Wrath and the Dawn (dying to read Book 2), and Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows (trying to read all the Grisha Trilogy books first, but it’s hard to wait!).” —Deirdre Jones Thanks so much for sharing what’s on your shelf, Kate and Deirdre. Fantasy, poetry, and graphic novels… so many good ones! *brb adding to the TBR pile* Fall in love all over again with the world of the Fives with Kate Elliott’s Night Flower. Kate takes us back in time with this gorgeous romance about how Jessamy’s parents first meet and like Court of Fives, their story has its own heart stopping moments to savor. If you haven’t read these stories yet, both eBooks are on sale for $2.99 each. Go forth, and happy reading! All three of the books Deirdre is reading are ALSO on my TBR!!! -- source link
