haylestorming:kkachi95: I recently read about wedding customs of the Ainu people, which inspired me to draw Sokka proposing to Suki! The concept seemed fitting since Kyoshi Island is the Avatar world’s visual equivalent of Japan.(Sokka and Suki are in their mid 20s) [Image description: 9 digital drawings, then a photo with text overlaid on top. The first drawing shows Suki and Sokka kneeling across from each other in a traditional Japanese room. Suki is holding a bowl of rice and chopsticks. Sokka is nervous, holding his curled up hand to his mouth. The next drawing shows a close up of Suki looking at the bowl of rice with a complex expression. The third picture focuses on Sokka’s nervous expression. The next one shows a close-up of what he’s holding in his other hand - a betrothal necklace with a green band and a golden fan. The fifth picture shows Suki’s serious face, and the sixth is a close-up of her mouth as she begins to smile. In the next panel she is shown enthusiastically taking a bite of the half-eaten rice. The next picture shows Sokka surprised and happy. The last drawing shows Sokka throwing himself on Suki in a hug as she smiles. Sokka is wearing his regular attire. Suki is wearing blue clothing with geometric designs, including a headband tied around her forehead, inspired by the culture of the Ainu, a native people of Japan. The photo is black and white and shows the face of a woman of presumably Ainu origin. She is dressed similarly to how Suki is in the fan art. The yellow text on top reads
