I can’t really convey the myriad of emotions I felt when I took my 3 year old with me to vote on the way to school this morning but I’ll just say this. I was only able to take part in this crooked system because I am working daily within my community to create the world I wish existed in a multitude of other ways. Voting is not now nor will it ever be where your political knowledge and participation should begin or end. I will continue to talk about the issues, whether they directly impact me or not, because that is true humanity and democracy and it is the only way to access this ‘greatness’ we claim to seek. Shouts to my activist, educator, creative, entrepreneur, hood femme, intersectional feminist, black radical fam and those able to understand it will never be simple or easy where politics and blackness are concerned. Thank you for listening without judgement and knowing the difference between a space for debate and a public sharing/healing session, rather than trying to rail road me when I was publicly sifting through MY truth. At some point we have to stop arguing and start building. Keep fighting the good fight and if this is your moment of awakening, I welcome you to join us. Sending love to those who voted their conscience whether that meant not voting, voting green or biting the bullet with Hillary. You honor your ancestors by exercising the right to FREEDOM they died for- not voting a specific way. #LetsGetFree -- source link
