The Sound BarrierDirected by David LeanScreenplay by Terence RattiganUK, 1952 Watched on 12th January 2014First viewing I’m afraid I found this film very disappointing. I’m generally a fan of David Lean, and I love what few Terence Rattigan plays I have seen (television/film versions thereof), but The Sound Barrier didn’t do it for me at all. I found Nigel Patrick and Ann Todd (Lean’s wife at the time) quite bland, and Ralph Richardson wasn’t up to his usual standards either, sporting a slightly odd Yorkshire accent.
