rabbitheads:parttimepup:anotherdoginsunglasses:creednotcolor:anotherdoginsunglasses:creednotcolor:mildlyinteresting-blog:http://bit.ly/2QyeuqF “Subways in Japan have Women Only cars”Sexist segregation, good or badwomen getting to use a car to avoid being harassed by men (v common on public transport in japan) so no, not the bad kind of sexist I confess I’m a bit ambivalent here, I see your point but I don’t think setting a precedent for any type of segregation is good.that’s because you’re a man and therefore don’t understand why women feel the need for itIn Japanese there is a special word for the molestation of women on train cars and it is a very popular category of pornography, “chikan”. I have read testimonials of women that stated once they graduated high school and stopped wearing their uniform on public transport, instances of men assaulting and groping them went down tenfold. So this is a case of protecting underage girls as well as adult women. If men didn’t assault women and girls with such frequency and boldness that women felt the need to organize and petition the government for these cars, then this type of segregation wouldn’t exist. I notice this detractor didn’t offer any other solution, but expected women to suffer whatever happens to them so he could have some sense of “equality”.We did the same thing in Korea (just in Busan) and the backlash from men were unbelievable. However we came to a conclusion that this is the worst possible solution for women, the best for men & also the cheapest quick fix. No fundamental solution is done here. Men are not penalized in any way for ever growing an idea that sexually assulting women in public transportation is okay(like, where did you get that idea???? Can we stop next generation from getting the same idea?????) Those (potential) criminals are still walking around with that exact same idea, just looking for another place/chance. It gives men a reason to defend their action by saying ‘she should have stayed in the women’s section. We already gave you a solution and you’re still complaining? It’s on you now.’ Men really shouldn’t whine about this because if I made a policy I would have allowed summary execution. So be grateful while politians are still on your side. -- source link
