7-percent: Did you think (like I did) that John could have simply stopped Sherlock by pulling his gun arm away? This is collusion… not a hostage situation. The police would have been able to charge John not only for the assault on the Chief Inspector but for aiding and abetting as well as resisting arrest. After the fall, he would have been taken into custody. One has to assume that Mycroft’s behind-the-scenes machinations got him out, but still there would be time spent in a police holding cell. -- source link
