oakapples: Formentera, Spain. Far de la Mola lighthouse stands atop the eastern cliffs of the Balearic island of Formentera. In 1109, Norwegian crusaders, who were raiding various Iberian and Mediterranean locations then occupied by the Moors, landed on the island and attacked a Moorish cave settlement, winning rich treasures. The Norwegians continued on their voyage, via Sicily, to the Holy Land and its still extant Crusader States. Their crusade was unequivocally successful; they did not lose a single battle. -- source link
