I’ve been away for over a month but nobody noticed because the queue was running, ha. Short disclaimer: as some of you might know I started my new job at the beginning of March and needed some time to adjust to my new work schedule and all that. But I guess 6 weeks is enough for that, and I can be more responsive from now on.And here’s the more interesting part: what I’ve been up to, when I wasn’t working. First of all, let me just say that I love Mass Effect and love replaying the game over and over again. Second of all, I love making lists. What I don’t love is cruising around the Citadel in search of side quests after every plot mission because I can’t remember what is available when. Third of all, I’m a perfectionist and have to have every single side quest done in each playthrough. So, I started developing this application that would let me track my progress through different playthroughs, and alert me when there’s a side quest available for taking, when a side quest is about to expire, would tell me where to pick up the assignment or if it will contain combat sequences or just running around. This was equally me indulging myself as also learning, since I picked .NET as my platform of choice, the same we’re using at my new job. I had the opportunity to polish my C# skills (I’ve been mainly programming using Java till now), as well as learn some new things. I’m totally in love with WPF now, it made binding data to UI so easy, and since I’m familiar with HTML and CSS, styling things in XAML was not so hard to learn too. I’m really looking forward to learning about it and working with it more. The app itself is a constant work in progress because I keep coming up with new ideas on how to improve it. I will probably finish it till May, and then I’d like to fork it into mobile OR web version. I haven’t decided yet, depends on what I’ll feel like learning.Anyway, I’m writing about this, because it’s been a really fun experience and… yeah.MEANWHILE, I got so many new followers, hello everyone.I wonder if tumblr fucked something up when I was away. It’s good to be back. -- source link
