lewi-tho: digidiskette: presidentobarna: crazyress: welcometo-silent-hill: cummied: cryingsoup: jetbag: what the fuck are you kidding me i hate conservative christians so much Why is everyone who has the last name Abott actual trash i hate christians lol TEXAS FRIENDS: if this happens to you you need to call two organizations.THE FBI: Tell them that a government official is acting in defiance of the constitution.THE ACLU: They will give you the attorneys and legal backing necessary to get a marriage license. This is entirely unconstitutional and unenforceable. Know your options. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Signal boosting this cause this is incredibly important Okay but….. You don’t NEED a member of the Clergy to marry you….. You just need the Clerk of Court…. All he’s saying is that churches won’t be forced to hold gay weddings, which I imagine if you don’t go to the church already is not a big deal? Is this a thing, gay couples wanting marriage ceremonies in churches that don’t approve of gay relationships? And if you already attend a gay-friendly church, they are still more than allowed to perform the ceremony.Idk maybe it’s because I was raised Catholic, where you must be a member of the church to get married in one, but to me it’s like getting up in arms that my mixed-race boyfriend and my white ass wouldn’t be allowed to be married in a Nation of Islam temple. I’m 100% for the separation of church and state, which means churches keeping out of the state and the state keeping out of churches. If a pastor and their congregation don’t want to hold gay marriages, that’s fine. Legally that pastor holds no power over your union; you still have to go get a marriage license. So let this Abott douche announce to the world that he’s a bigot; good. Now we know who he is and his lgbt+ constituents can work to get his ass out of there, making stupid and unnecessary laws and wasting taxpayer dollars. -- source link
