thesilicontribesman:Romano-Celtic Temple, Caerwent Roman City, Monmouthshire, 6.5.18.An extensive and sizeable Romano-Celtic Temple existed in close proximity to the Forum and Basilica at Caerwent. The building featured a raised entrance porch leading to an ambulatory, or walkway, which surrounded the inner square sanctuary; this was a tower like structure that housed statues or other cult relics. It had an alcove to the rear. The temple stood within a sacred courtyard enclosure where worshippers would have stood and was faced by a long hall, fronting the main street. It was built around 330 CE. It is unclear which deities were worshipped here. -- source link
