I spend my life and way too much money on going between gigs and festivals. I do this because live music is a safe space, a place for celebration and singing and dancing. A place where people come together, people from different places and different backgrounds and different stages of life with different dreams, a place where people are equal. It is not a place for the conflict and the hate and the bullshite of the outside world. It’s truly heartbreaking to think people went out last night to see their favourite artist and didn’t return. That children have died. Live music has given me the best nights and introduced me to the best people, and now people will miss out on that. But hate won’t, never has been, and never will be, defeated by hate. At times like these you see the love and compassion of people. Fear-mongering and islamophobia have no place. This picture is from a frank turner gig shortly after the attacks in Paris. This small spontaneous moment shows that unity and love will not be defeated.Today is a sad day, and I will deal with it the only way I know how. I’ll see you at the fucking barrier. -- source link
