innercircleminiatures:I’d intended for Sammael to be the centerpiece of the Ravenwing army and took a good eight weeks or so on him if I recall correctly. However, I spent a lot of that time trying to coax the “Finecast” resin into a functional shape. Almost every piece had some kind of significant warping or twisting; one of the handlebars needed to be rotated something like 60 degrees on its central axis to get it in the right position. As you can see, I failed to persuade his feet actually to rest on the pedals of the jetbike. Working with the resin was a miserable experience and I cannot say enough bad things about Finecast. It’s a bit hard to say what are my shortcomings as a painter and what are the shortcomings of the mold itself. As I write I have to say, it occurs to me that Sammael is a very strange miniature. I feel that it’s an objectively cool sculpt and yet by virtue of the jetbike I suppose, I wonder that he isn’t so much prominent as out of place among Ravenwing bikes and landspeeders and, frankly, Space Marines in general. Also, when in place with the rest of the army, the Dark Talon and the Landspeeders draw the eye more so the centerpiece thing didn’t quite work out.I feel a lot of ambivalence about this one. @noahthegardevoir here’s Sammael -- source link
