Whew - couldn’t finish this one last night, so I put in a few hours this morning to get it far enough to share. I might not be able to finish tonights drawing in time to post tomorrow since I am heading out for the evening to celebrate my birthday :) but even if I get behind in the days - I still plan to finish the list in the following month. So here it is - the final Ogdoad pair for my Egyptian Mythology themed inktober! These two, Qerh and Qerhet were more abstract even than the others and there is some ambiguity about what they represented - but the consensus seems to be that they represented invisibility and inaction. I found that a really interesting pairing of ideas - that visibility or even existence is connected to action. These two are the time before action occurs, the potential of the moment before one acts. For this pair, I chose the Sand Viper and Mascarene Ridged Frog. It was important to me that each one of them had a distinct frog or snake that was native to Egypt as part of the design. Because these ink drawings are necessarily simpler than a full painting, it is harder to tell the difference. But when I do full paintings of them - I think it will be much more impacting to the design. And next up on my list is Bennu!! Bennu is the Egyptian version of the phoenix that predates the Greek version. I wont be able to ink it tonight since I am going out for my birthday but I can’t wait to ink this one and will probably do it tomorrow night! :) I’ve got the gold ink ready! -- source link
