Gansey looks more like a Studious Young Gentleman/preppy douchebag than a hooligan but the presence of Ronan probably makes up for it tbh Part 1: Blue | Part 2: Gansey | Part 3: Ronan | Part 4: Adam | Part 5: Noah | Part 6: Henry The Gangsey Okay I have something (good) to say about this set and I know it’s a weird thing to notice but I’m too obsessed with this series not to. Look at how each of their bodies are drawn, muscle-wise. This one demonstrates it most perfectly I think with Gansey’s ridiculously bulked up legs and large shoulders, because he’s a rower. The books specifically mention his muscly legs which developed as a result of being on the rowing team. Ronan is more well-balanced - he exercises whatever muscles serve him best in a fight. Then there’s Adam, who is also well-balanced but his arms are the most noticably muscled, because he works as a mechanic and at a factory, using his arms more than anything else. Noah and Henry are fit enough to be attractive, because that’s all they ever needed it for - although there’s a difference with Noah being more slender (skateboarding emo aesthetic forever) while Henry looks like he probably actually works out to keep fit. Meanwhile Blue is in shape (she rides a bike everywhere after all) but obviously doesn’t exercise for pleasure (she doesn’t have time and probably no desire to change herself for the male gaze) or work in a job likely to noticably create muscle mass (although that’s not to say that waitressing isn’t physically demanding, because it is, you just aren’t likely to bulk up doing it). Tldr; this artist is amazing for capturing these characters’ personalities not only in clothing but in much more subtle mediums like muscle. I will take any opportunity to analyze the aesthetic of The Raven Cycle universe, especially so I can cry about it when TV Gansey doesn’t have giant legs. -- source link
