lm-g1:Had a super vivid dream last night that Nintendo unveiled a Donkey Kong Country CG animated film. Animation was phenomenal, and I remember most of it being pretty good- at least up until Brad Garrett was revealed as the voice of DK. Also, they leaned really hard into the ‘Diddy is DK’s nephew’ characterization, which was unexpected- but not necessarily bad. The film’s plot seemed to be a combination of both the first and second DKC games. I don’t remember much of it, only that Cranky sent DK and Diddy on a quest to climb to the top of DK Island so that they could reactivate some kind of giant, purifying, ancient energy portal doohickey- to stop the invading Kremlings.Oh yeah, speaking of- the Kremlings were depicted as supernatural/shapeshifting beings. All of them seemed to lack sentience and their bodies were composed of living earth/stone, rather than being outright flesh-and-blood crocodilians. They could rise out of the earth and attack DK & Diddy on any surface, pending it wasn’t man-made. These Kremlings were very similar to the “Rock Kroc” enemy from the first DKC game. Climax of the film had DK and Diddy activate the ancient piece of machinery, seemingly turning all the attacking Kremlings into statues where they stood. However, an after credits scene revealed that this was far from the case- as the Kremling statues’ rocky exterior cracked and sloughed off, revealing the organic flesh of a Kritter beneath. No mention of K. Rool though, oddly enough. So yeah, long story short- I really want my Donkey Kong Country films now. -- source link
