taakostrutsin: herbgerblin: “A Lesson in Elvish” inspired by @marywhal‘s TAZ Fic Bury the Lead. Apologies if the resolution is poor, I tried as best I could. I read this part in chapter eight and it really, really sat with me. The scene itself is straightforward, but they conjured very lovely images in my head that I wanted to illustrate. :> [id: a long comic featuring taako and angus from taz: balance. taako is a tan elf with long blond hair pulled into a slightly messy braid. he wears a white shirt and a large green scarf. angus is a young boy with dark brown skin and short afro-textured hair. he wears a blue outfit and matching cap. the comic is titled “A Lesson in Elvish.” it begins in tidy panels with dusky pink backgrounds. taako and angus sit across from each other at a table, with books and cups of coffee between them. taako says, “Ango, colors are verbs.” angus looks slightly confused, then replies, “That doesn’t make sense. How do you describe things?” taako holds up his braid and says, “Right now my hair is blond, agreed?” angus nods in agreement. the panels begin to break from their rigid structure, with their borders at irregular angles. taako carefully taps his hair with the tip of his wand, saying “And now?” angus tilts his head to one side, saying “It’s… pink. I don’t understand.” taako replies, “Colors are verbs—” the comic bursts from the panels entirely. the table, chairs, items, and people appear to be suddenly in free-fall as large loopy text reads, “—because things change.” taako and angus fall through a long gradient of colors, from blue, to gray with raindrops, to a red-pink color, to a deep purple with golden firework-like bursts, and finally to black with blue stars. as they fall through this gradient, text around them reads, “The sky is blue when it’s sunny / But gray when it’s raining / At sunset or sunrise it might be red or pink or purple / When it’s night, it’s black. Colors are verbs.” angus and taako are reaching towards each other amidst a black sky with blue stars, a large green and blue planet visible below them as if seen from outer space. the text reads, “They’re like— a microcosm for the world. The world is a verb, Ango.” there is a long segment with text only that reads “Color changes. So do people, things, circumstances… Nothing is permanent.” as the text is displayed, the background slowly fades from black into white into a soft yellow - at the bottom of the image, the table, furniture, items, etc are all as they were at the beginning of the comic. taako is smiling across the table at angus, saying, “Elvish makes real fucking sure you get that.” end id.] -- source link
