thoughtscholar: (and everything in it)I think a lot of people have trouble keeping their backpacks organized / tidy so hopefully this will help you keep your things in order so you don’t lose anything and can easily find everything you need when you need it.1. have a system. papers go straight into their assigned folders, trash goes in the front pocket to throw out later, pens / pencils / calculator all go into a pen case. it really doesn’t take more than 5 extra seconds to put a paper in a folder. handing in papers / hw that is not wrinkled shows teachers that you care about your schoolwork, and you’re also much less likely to lose things.2. use the pockets in your backpack. it’s easier to find smaller things if you put them in a smaller pocket. if they get put in a larger pocket, they might be crushed by a heavy book or something like that and will be harder to find so they might just lie around at the bottom of your backpack for a very long time. 3. put things in pouches. tiny things like hair ties, safety pins, and chapstick / lipbalm can be put in a small pouch before being put in a smaller pocket. this also goes for things you might not want falling out of your backpack for the whole world to see, like personal things / feminine items. put it in a pouch!4. keep food / water out of your backpack. spills can happen, even if you put rubber bands on the tupperware lid and your water bottle is ‘leak proof’. it’s better not to risk getting your books and papers wet. put food / water in a lunchbox you can carry or use the water bottle pocket on the outside of your backpack.5. don’t put heavier things towards the outside. i find that heavier things pull at the shoulder straps more when placed towards the outside so try to put the heavier things closer to your back. also adjust the straps so they fit you and don’t pull on you in the wrong spots. you don’t want backpack sores!6. put something in between spiral notebooks. they always tend to get tangled with each other, so if you use a lot of spiral notebooks, it’s a good idea to put something like a folder, in between them to the wires don’t tangle in your backpack.7. keep unnecessary things out of your backpack. If you don’t need something, don’t bring it because a. it’s going to make your backpack heavier, which is going to probably put more strain on your back and b. it’ll make it harder to find / focus on the things that you do need. 8. assign a space to store your backpack. when you come home, take your books, laptop, folders, and pen case out of your backpack and put them away, throw away any trash, and store your backpack in an assigned spot. this way your backpack will get a break and you’ll be able to find it in the assigned spot when you need it again.9. pack your bag before you go to bed. this isn’t really a tip helpful for taking care of your backpack. but this way, if anything happens in the morning, for example you sleep in and you’re rushing to get everything together, you won’t forget anything or bring the wrong materials with you. you can do this! -hana from thoughtscholar -- source link
