This march did not represent me, or my wife, or my daugher. We are lesbians who are out, married, and have children together. No one stopped us. No one will take ANY of that away from us. We own homes. We drive cars. We use birth control. We have health insurance. We have jobs. We own guns. I did not vote for Donald Trump, but he is, indeed, my president. He’s yours, too, if you are an American citizen. He was elected fairly by electoral votes. This is the way it works in the US, and if you don’t understand that, please go back to your high school social studies class and relearn it. Your current liberal hero, Alexander Hamilton, wrote the rules of the Electoral College, so get the fuck off your picking and choosing high horse. Yes, I do believe we should take care of our fellow humans, and make sure those who WANT health insurance have it, but it is up to me to decide who to give that money to, how much to give, and when I want to give it. It should not be up to the government to tax me to pay for someone else’s insurance. I do not live in fear that VP Pence is going to try conversion therapy on me. I do not fear men. I do not fear for my body. I am not afraid to speak up and be heard. I am responsible for me. I am responsible for my wife, and for my children. I am a strong woman. I love and respect men. I do not scream at men, telling them they are taking things away from me, because they aren’t. If you are going to scream at me about your rights, I will not listen. If you want to discuss your fears with me in a calm, respectful manner, I am happy to. If you want to impress me, especially in regards to women, then speak on the real injustices and tragedies that affect women in foreign countries that do not have the opportunity or means to have their voices heard. In Saudi Arabia women can’t drive, have no rights, and must always be covered. China and India supports the infantcide of baby girls. Afghanistan where women have few education rights. Democratic Republic of Congo, where rapes are brutal and women are left to die, or HIV infected and left to care for children alone. Mali, where women can not escape the torture of genital mutilation. Pakistan, in tribal areas where women are gang raped to pay for men’s crime. Guatemala, the impoverished female underclass of Guatemala faces domestic violence, rape and the second-highest rate of HIV/AIDS after sub-Saharan Africa. An epidemic of gruesome unsolved murders has left hundreds of women dead, some of their bodies left with hate messages. Or the 7 year old girls being sold or married off to 60 year old men, Or the millions of women sold and bought into sex trafficking. And those are just a few examples. The millions of women that marched and screamed about privilege had the means to travel there, many staying in hotels, flying, taking time off of work, marching with full bellies, and bottled water. Millions and millions of dollars spent that could have been donated to Planned Parenthood, women’s shelters, women’s education here and abroad. Talk about privilege. -- source link
