morg-ana: vvolare: Blood Lake in Texas - The blood red color is a result of Chromatiaceae bacteria which turn red in oxygen deprived water. My biology teacher said all the oceans used to be red before dinosaurs or humans because of bacteria in them. I wonder if this is the same kind of bacteria. It’d be pretty cool to see the first living thing on Earth. -- source link
