everydayafghanistan: Today is International Book and Copyright day 2022, and the story is from the past year. I noticed Qanbar Zareh, 43, an Afghan government employee in Kabul while he was reading @michelleobama’s ‘Becoming’. “What do you like about this book?”, I asked. “Same story, different face,” he said boldly. “I relate it to my own life. I’ve faced isolation and discrimination throughout, so this book speaks to me. It’s very personal. She’s a remarkable woman and I’m the father of several daughters. I want them to raise their voices - and to read books.” Afghanistan - where women’s rights are too often disregarded - needs more men like Qanbar: a father ready to raise strong daughters and a man who listens when women speak. #Kabul #Afghanistan Photo & text by Steph Glinski @stephglinski. #becoming #michelleobama #everydayafghanistan #father #womensrights #everydaykabul #bookday #everydayeverywhere #photojournalism #book #literacy #education #afghan #everydayasia #reportagespotlight (at Kabul Province)https://www.instagram.com/p/CcvBo95JOmG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI= -- source link
