Goodnight y’all. Another patrol. Quiet mostly. One kkk apprehended, many more circling, possible scouting for tonight. No time for complacency. Organize organize organize. And don’t lose sight as we defend our neighborhoods, that JUSTICE for George Floyd must never elude us. Justice for all black folks executed by state powers, there is no sleep until all May rest their heads at night easy and without fear. I think often of politically constructed distance as a form of violence, distance as a means of imagination enhancing that distance. The suburbs distance from working class urban communities allows the white imagination to conceive of black and brown people as criminal, violent and savage. It is this distance which convinces white civil society that all that stands between them and chaos is the police and not that police create chaos to create the illusion of their own necessity. The imagination kills, it curls the finger and swings the fist and is its own wicked ligature. It is statistically true white people get the best sleep in this nation. That sleep believing that you are safe is this nation is a feeling everyone deserves and a feeling so many are eluded. Yes, I am tired, I have worked round the clock, but I always have the OPTION to distance myself, to opt out of my community if I do desire, it is what privilege allows. However tired or scared you are, white folks, every black person you know or see in this struggle is more tired, and more tired for more reasons and more scared for more reasons. So many white people are most afraid of their imaginations and worldview being shattered, black people mist worry about their lives in a very real way each time they step out into an American street. Wake up, shire America. Wake up so black folks can get some rest, they been fighting 400 years. This all our right, recognize it, know your role and your skill set, utilize, organize, listen to and follow black leaders.
