pheldinecormier: lanewilliam: Seriously though, a lot of Christian fundamentalist sermons describe a God who is basically just a textbook abusive boyfriend - insanely jealous of anything that takes time away from him - demands constant praise - you don’t understand what he does, but you have to go along without question. Sometimes he’s testing you.* This is in no way unfair - teaches you that you deserve to be punished, and that’s why you need his love. No one else will love you the way he does, because you don’t deserve it - has expectations you will never live up to. That’s why you need to constantly repent - suffering for him just proves your devotion - he is never wrong. If all signs point to him being wrong, it’s probably a conspiracy** by people who just don’t get how important your relationship with him is *you know, like how the dinosaur fossils look like they were formed over millions of years when the Bible clearly states the earth is only six thousand years old **you know, like the gay agenda or those scientists who want you to believe in evolution -It doesn’t matter what he does, he still “loves” you so it’s all okay and you just don’t understand it because of your lowly human brain -Expects you to be overwhelming grateful for “salvation” from sin/hell even though he is the one who made this problem, ie would otherwise be condemning you to eternal damnation -- source link
