tokaybite:equagga:fattynoodles:tokaybite:Hey just to warn other trans reptile owners, faunaclassfields will force you to use your legal name when signing up, and will then display it for all users to see in your “about me” section of your profile. They will not allow you to change it to your prefered name. Obviously this can put trans people (esp tjose who have been abuse victims) in danger by outing them, so be aware.@william-snekspeareim @ ing you bc i know youre non binary and a popular reptiblr blogger, and i think its important to get the word outUnfortunately if you’re looking to breed and sell this is an important website to have, especially if you’re looking for rare animals.I’m disheartened to learn they would do this. Unfortunately it’s part of e-commerce; they do need your legal name for all correspondence done because otherwise they would not be able to control information regarding sales (especially in the case of fraud, which is common in the reptile industry).I want to be clear though: the response given to you is fucking horrific. That is NOT how you explain your policy regarding a full name. “This site is not for you,” might as well be saying “fuck you you piece of transgender shite.”The use of “REAL full name,” is ridiculous too, that was completely unneeded, all they had to say was “legal name.” It’s typical insensitive word phrasing that transphobic people use to tear down transgender folks. I think the term is microaggression? Either way, I’ll probably send a politely worded e-mail and some informational websites to them.I would advise not to make a huge stink and barrage their site/reviews with anything particularly defensive (I don’t want to say aggressive cause they’re language is aggressive in the first place…), unless you really want to get your name(s) blacklisted.I hate that this is how the world works, but maybe in your email to them, spin it so it makes sense for them as a business? The name you go by is the name you do business as. Your legal name is a name you stopped using, possibly before you were even an adult, probably before you started selling reptiles. Searches for Oldname Lastname will not bring up your current contact information, reviews, etc. Thus by displaying Oldname Lastname instead of Realname Lastname, Fauna Classifieds makes it harder for buyers to research and contact you, and that makes them a less effective service for you and for buyers. While they may need your legal name for internal purposes, it’s not the name your customers need.thats a great tip, @equagga ! i think im too tired out to do that, i dont sell or breed but was hoping to find listings for some more uncommon animals.. but thats a good point to make to them! thank you@fattynoodles i completely agree their response was really rude and aggressive, ive decided to just remove my account and make this post, then leave it at that. i really dont feel like causing a big problem over it! it just.. sucks :( -- source link
