Manichaeism was a vibrant religion in the early middle ages before being squeezed out by Christianity in the west, Islam in the middle east, and Buddhism in east Asia. Mani, its founder, built on the teachings of the Buddha, Jesus, and Zoroaster to create a syncretic religion with elements of all three. -- source link
