thetremblingofmyhand:deus-vulting-intensifies:Feminist gaming logic lol. I have never seen a video game character as portrayed in the second picture so let’s pretend for a second that’s an actual woman.Do I even have to explain why a character with a ridiculously impractical costume and an unrealistic figure that is clearly designed to appeal to male players, while disregarding how it may make other women feel uncomfortable, is offensive? While male characters may also be subjected to unrealistic bodies (which is just as bad), rarely will you see them wearing an outfit specifically designed just to appeal to female players and if you do the outfit is rarely impractical and the result is a male character who is empowered, which contrasts sharply with the female character above who is clearly left revealed and vulnerable. Why should her being scantily clad be any different from the female on the right you ask? Because the female on the right is topless by choice, specifically, her choice and not some video game designer’s choice. She is likely at a protest or rally, and thus not dressed impractically because she isn’t planning on raiding a tomb or running through a jungle or fighting villains. Whether shirtless protests are effective or empowering is certainly a debatable issue, but you can’t pretend like the use of women as sex objects in the gaming industry, and everywhere else isn’t a problem. Regardless of her physical abilities or role in the game, her appearance is clearly manipulated to appeal sexually to men at the character’s expense. Like please tell me a bikini top is ideal for tomb raiding and ass-kicking? You’re going to get punched in the fucking boob and it will hurt. And why does she ahve tights under her thong??? how can that belt be comfy against her bare skin??? ?? -- source link
